Stafford John Joseph Stafford, 85, formerly for amny years employed by the Bigelow- Sanford Carpet Company, died Tuesday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edward LaGrange, after a short illness, at Crown Point N.Y. He was born in New York City, a son of the late James and Ellen (Pollard) Stafford. He began work in the carpet mills in that city and came to Thompsonville in 1902, following the carpet manager. When he retired 10 years ago he had a service record of nearly 68 years with the company. He was long foreman in the filling department. The family moved to New York State a year ago. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Patrick's Church here and held honorary life membership in the Carpet Craft Club. Besides Mrs. LaGrange, he leaves another daughter, Miss Anne Stafford of Crown Point; a son, James Stafford of Thompsonville; 10 grandchildren and a brother, Richard Stafford, of Torrington. The funeral will be held Friday at 8:15 a.m. at the Browne Funeral Home at 121 Pearl Street and a requiem high mass will be held at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's Hall.
