Sheridan Jr., 75, of Kissimmee, Fla., formerly of Manchester, husband of the late Jean (Ellis) Sheridan, died suddenly Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Osceola Regional Medical Center in Florida. Born March 3, 1926, in Philadelphia, son of the late Martin J. Sheridan Sr. and Helen (Conway) Sheridan, he was raised and schooled in Philadelphia and was a graduate of The College of The Holy Cross in Worcester, Class of 1946. Mr. Sheridan was a naval aviator with 23 years of service (1943-1966) to his country, retiring with the rank of lieutenant commander. He was awarded the Naval Air Medal for flying more than 50 classified missions over Cuba from 1960-1962. After his retirement from the Navy, he resided in Manchester from 1966-1986 and was employed as an instructor at the Customer Training Center for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Wethersfield. He was a former communicant of St. Bartholomew Church in Manchester and former Boy Scout leader. Mr. Sheridan is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas M. and Ellen Sheridan and David M. and Katherine Sheridan, all of Manchester; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan S. and Richard Hein of Bolton and Regina S. and Shannon Foster of Lutz, Fla.; two brothers, Rev. John F. Sheridan of Bethlehem, Pa., and Robert A Sheridan of Madiera Beach, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Martin J. Sheridan III. The funeral service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Church, 45 Ludlow Road, Manchester. Burial with military honors will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 29, at the funeral home.
