She was born Jan. 21, 1914, in Appleton, Maine, the daughter of the late Frederick H. and Minnie Brown. Rowena resided in Enfield for the past 37 years; she loved traveling. Rowena is survived by her three children, Frederick H. Thistle of San Antonio, Harold M. Thistle of Carson City, Nev., and Mary Rebecca "Becky" Thistle of Enfield; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Vern R. Colson of San Antonio; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman Thistle; two sons, Harry W. and Richard E. Thistle; and two brothers, Harold and Truman Brown. The funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, April 27, from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, followed by a service at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Brainard Road, Enfield. Committal service will take place in Hazardville Cemetery. Rowena's family will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at the funeral home.
