Woodrow Tremont L. Woodrow Tremont, 83, of Enfield, beloved husband of the late Rita Mae (Croughwell) Tremont, died Monday, April 23, 2001. He was born in Hartford, Nov. 16, 1917, to the late Louis and Henrietta (Kears) Tremont. Mr. Tremont was a graduate of William Jewell College in Illinois. He was a ranger in the infantry during World War II in the European Theater and received the Purple Heart. He was an underwriter for Connecticut Mutual Insurance Co., retiring after 25 years, and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Mr. Tremont is survived by a son, Dr. Stephen Tremont and his wife, Elizabeth, of Raleigh, N.C.; four grandsons, Hunter, Alexander, Garrison, and Pate all of Raleigh; a sister, Gladys T. Gray of East Hartford; two nephews, Richard T. Scofield of Nashville, Tenn., and Woodrow T. Gray of East Hartford; and a brother-in-law, Kennard Scofield of Manchester. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Frances Scofield. The funeral service will be private. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill, has charge of arrangements.
