Vinton Sr., 78. of 144 Branford St., died today in Manchester. He was the husband of Florence Bowman Vinton. He was born in Enfield in 1903 and lived here for 37 years. Before his retirement in 1968 he was an inspector for American Telephone and Telegraph in Hartford and had worked for the company for 34 years. He was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a 50-year member of Uriel Lodge 24 of Masons of Merrow. He was also a charter member of the Elks Lodge. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, George A Vinton Jr. of LaPuenta, Calif., and Robert M. Vinton of Denver; two daughters, Joann V. Deming of Colebrook and Mary V. McGann of West Yarmouth, Mass., a step-son, Kenneth J. Dahlquist of Andover; two stepdaughters, June Bugie of Pittsburgh and Debra Crickmore of Scotland; and 19 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Burial will be in East Cemetery.
