Warren John H. Warren, 74, of Bolton, and Eden Park, Victoria, Australia, died suddenly on Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at his home in Eden Park. He was born Feb. 18, 1927, in Wrentham, Mass., the son of John and Marian (Daniels) Warren. He attended the Wrentham schools, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1944, and served in Korea and Japan. He graduated from Rhode Island School of Design as a design engineer, enjoying a career in both the United States and Australia. In 1953 he married Jeanne Hamilton of Needham, Mass. (who predeceased him in 1987), and in 1973, they moved their family to Australia. John was a member of Masonic Lodges in the United States and Australia, the American Legion, and the Returned Serviceman's League, serving the latter as secretary for several years in Whittlesea, Australia. He was an active amateur ham radio operator, and after his retirement was the communications coordinator for the Great Australian Bike Ride of Victoria for three years. He also volunteered at various community health services in Whittlesea and Melbourne. He is survived by a sister, Rosemary Hulle of Westlake Village, Calif.; a brother, Alfred, of Davidson, N.C.; and four sons in Australia, John and his wife, Faye, of Traralgon, Charles and his wife, Deborah, of Falls Creek, Mark and his wife, Diane, of Berwick, and William of Melbourne; and six grandchildren, Christopher, Courtney, Laura, Nadia, Joseph, and Stacey. His wife, Jean Williams Bates, of Bolton, whom he married in 1997, also survives him. They divided their time between the United States and Australia, enjoying their families on both continents and extensive travels as well. His stepchildren in Connecticut are Ann Bates and husband, Donald Rey, Steven Bates and wife, Beth, Bruce Bates and wife, Joanne, and Douglas Bates and wife, Catharina; and 17 grandchildren, Donald, Julie, Jennifer, and Elizabeth Rey, and Tiffany, Bruce, Heather, Zachary, Katherine, Sydney, Emmery, Wyatt, Samantha, Cameron, Olivia, Erica, and Alexa Bates. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, his families, and his many friends. Funeral services were held Monday, April 9, at Anglican Church of Whittlesea, followed by a Masonic Service at Fawkner Crematorium in Fawkner, Australia.
