All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ct/ctfiles.htm *********************************************** To the Sheriff of the County of Tolland or his deputy or either of the Constables of the Town of Coventry within said County Greeting Whereas Jacob Willson of Sd Coventry Recovered judgment against William Willson of sd Coventry before the County Court holden at Tolland within the County of Tolland aforesaid on the 4th Tuesday of Septr AD 1817 for the sum of 223 dollars 52 cents damages and for the sum of 5 dollars 62 cents both of suit and appears of records whereof Exer remaining to be done. - These are therefore by authority of the State of Connicticut to command you that of the goods chattels or lands of the sd debtor within you precincts you cause to be levied and the same being disposed of or appraised as the law directs paid and satisfied unto the sd creditor the aforesaid sums being 229 dollars 14 cents in the whole with 17 cents more for this writ and thereof also to satisfy yourself for your own fees and for want of such goods chattels or lands of the said debtor to be by him & hearunto you or found within your precincts to the acceptance of the said creditor for satisfying the aforesaid sums you are hereby commanded to take the body of the sd debtor and him commit unto the keeper of the gaol in Tolland in the County aforesaid within the sd prison who is likewise hereby commanded to receive the said debtor and him safely keep until he pay unto the sd creditor the full sums above mentioned and be by him _______ and also to satisfy your fees Thereof fail not and make due return of this writ with your doings thereon according to law within sixty days next coming Dated at Tolland this 25th day of Sept AD 1817 E Stearns Clerk Tolland County ss Coventry Novr 18th 1817 By virtue of this Exr I repaired to the usual place of abode of Wm Willson the sd debtor within named and there made demand of the debt or sum due on this Exr with all necessary charges of executing the same & the sd debtor having neglected to make payment thereof & for want of personal estate by direction of Jacob Willson the creditor within named I levied this Exr on one certain piece of land lying & being situate in sd Coventry containing 16 acres and 133 rods bounded on the Boston Turnpike road on the south On the creditors land on the East on Willard Hutchinsons land on the North on Royal Wales & School societys land on the west the proper Estate of the sd debtor in fee and the sd creditor chose Joseph Kingsbury an indifferent freeholder of the same Town & the aforesaid debtor neglecting to choose any appraisor I applied to Joseph Talcott Esqr the next Justice of the peace who by Law may Judge between the sd parties in Civil cases which sd Justice appointed Elizer Hatch & Jubal Case both indifferent freeholders of the sd Town appraisers of the estate aforesaid levied upon by virtue of this Exr and Joseph Talcott Esq Justice of the peace for said County then & there administered to the said Joseph Kingsbury, Elizer Hatch & Jubal Case the oath by law required for appraisers of land taken on Exr another said appraisers then & there in view of sd described premises did upon their oaths appraise the same at the sum of $18 per acre as the then present true & just value thereof to the creditor in this Exr and the sum must owed in this Exr being $229.31 & the lawful charges of executing the same being $9.59 both which sums amount to the sum of $238.90 I on the same day set off to Jacob Willson the creditor in this Exr thirteen acres and forty three rods of Sd described premises in manner following (viz) Beginning at a heap of stones on the Boston Turnpike road at the South west corner of the creditors land thence N.27o W. 10r 11l thence S. 87oW. 33r thence S. 16o W. 39r to the highway thence N. 86o E. 9r to the first mentioned bound an other piece beginning at the North west corner of the above described piece thence by the creditors land N. 9o E. 20r 14l thence S. 87o W. 19r 12l thence N. 4o W. 28r 23l to Willard Hutchinsons land thence S. 86o W. 17r 16l thence S. 4o E. 44r 9l thence N. 87o E. 31r 12l to the first mentioned bound and erected proper bounds to the same in full satisfaction of this Exr and my fees and all charges thereon and on the same day I caused this Exr and by endorsement above thereon to be entered on the records of land in the sd Town of Coventry where sd land lies Attest Joseph Talcott ye Constable Officer -
