Jan. 1, 1876: Hebron to Glastonbury. John O. Peters (colored, son of Ira Peters), his wife & 4 children (Mary, ae 11; Amelia, ae 9; Freddie, ae 4; Lucy, ae 8 months) on expense. Jan. 20, 1876: Franklin to Hebron. Mary Deming not an inhabitant. Jan. 19, 1876: Andover to Hebron. John O. Peters and family not inhabitants. Feb. 7, 1876: Glastonbury to Hebron. Ira Peters, father of John O. Peters, was born in Hebron and never gained a settlement here. Feb. 22, 1876: Hebron to Windham. Mary Deming (colored) on expense. Feb. 24, 1876: Dr. Cyrus H. Pendleton of Hebron to Selectmen of Hebron. William H. Porter is sick. Mar. 1, 1876: Willimantic (Windham) to Hebron. Mary Deming: give further details on type of assistance she needs. Mar. 3, 1876: Hebron to Windham. Mary Deming is blind and unable to earn her support. She is with friends. Apr. 26, 1876: Farmington to Hebron. Mrs. Emily A. Bills is on expense. Her first husband was Henry B. Denison, who owned 6 acres of land in Hebron about 20 years ago; he died there and then she married Julius Bills of your town. She has been in this town about 2 years, working most of the time until her health failed her. Apr. 26, 1876: Norwich to Hebron. You were notified Feb. 20, 1873 that Lionel Coates, his wife Alice and his 3 children (Winfield, ae 6; Edward, ae 3; Alice, ae 18 months) were on expense. We have helped them yearly since that time. May 5, 1876: Norwich to Hebron. Coates has left his family & is at work in the city at $1.50 per day driving teams, but will not help his family. May 19, 1876: Farmington to Hebron. Mrs. Emily A. Bill on expense. July 31, 1876: Windham to Hebron. Julius Brown & wife Huldy have applied for assistance here. They have lived in your town 8 or 9 years before coming here 2 years since. Aug. 9, 1876: Hebron to Windham. Brown did live here about the number of years you specified, he did not gain a settlement, he having failed for three years or more to pay taxes. He lived for many years in Wilimantic prior to coming to Hebron. Aug. 31, 1876: Hebron to Norwich. Paid bill for Lionel Coates' family. Oct. 3, 1876: Haddam to Hebron. Charles Miner & wife Eliza and 9 children (Emily, Nellie, Carvey?, Jenney?, Cassy, Lilly, George, Ellen & Charles)are on expense. Extremely destitute, their nakedness not half covered. Oct. 10, 1876: Hebron to Haddam. Charles J. Miner not an inhabitant. You had better look to the town of Glastonbury. Oct. 3, 1876: Glastonbury to Hebron. William Ahern has bome from Hebron sick and without money; his family is on expense. He has had the doctor 4 times; if he is going to play the game he did last winter I propose to put a stop to it. We will take our proportion of the family to the poor house if you will advise what to do with yours. I think that will have a tendency to make them take care of yourselves. Oct. 31, 1876: Glastonbury to Hebron. Mr. Ahern is still quite ill, and Mrs. Ahern is to be confined soon. Mr. & Mrs. Ahern and all the children except the youngest belong to the town of Hebron. Nov. 4, 1876: Ahern is still quite ill, and his wife has had another boy.
