Brown buwbrown September 18, 2008, 4:36 pm Hebron, Selectmen's Copy Book, 1875-1898: Jan. 29, 1879: Lebanon to Hebron. George D. Watrous met with a very severe accident, having split his foot open with an ax while chopping. In a state of high fever caused by his wound. Feb. 1, 1879: Hbron to Lebanon. I think George D. Watrous belongs to Columbia. Feb. 15, 1879: Hebron to Glastonbury. Benjamin Prophet on expense. Mar. 18, 1879: Manchester to Hebron. Loren Bradford & family on expense; sickness. Mar. 22, 1879: Hebron to Manchester. Loren Bradford not a resident. Look to Marlborough or Glastonbury. Mar. 24, 1879: Manchester to Hebron. Loren Bradford, wife, & one child came to this town last October. He was living in Hebron in 1857, was there at the outbreak of the War of the rebellion, enlisted in the quota of Hebron, and returned there after his discharge and lived there some years. There is some question about his wife belonging to Hebron. I am now of the opinion that she was never divorced from her first husband, named Beckwith. She also has a child which I think belongs to Lebanon; a bastard, I think. Apr. 2, 1879: Hebron to Manchester. Loren Bradford has never lived in Hebron six years at any one time without moving out of town, and his taxes were always abated. I think he moved the first time to Hebron from Marlborough. I have not ascertained where he was born; I think Mansfield or Coventry. Apr. 10, 1879: Chatham to Hebron: Edwin Peters (colored) and family are on expense. Apr. 14, 1879: Chaplin to Hebron. Alice M. Bacon, child of James N. Bacon, is in this town on expense. Apr. 8, 1879: Lebanon to Hebron. George D. Watrous and his father, Leverett Watrous, have not lived in any one town long enough to gain residence. They will hold their residence under their father's and grandfather's (Ichabod Watrous), who was a resident of Hebron. May 22, 1879: Hebron to Glastonbury. Joel C. Peters (colored) & his wife Mary are on expense. June 2, 1879: Hebron to Lebanon. Paid bill for George D. Watrous. June 26, 1879: South Windsor to Hebron. G.S. Peters, colored man, has asked for assistance to bury a child of his. He said he belonged to Hebron and lived at J.G. Page's some 8 years and has not lived in Manchester or any other town long enough to gain a residence. I will not send the bill, as he promises to pay part himself in a few weeks. July 15, 1879: Plainville to Hebron. Plainville to commence suit if bill for Charles D. Gray and family is not paid. July 31, 1879: Plainville to Hebron. Charles D. Gray, wife Julia A., and children (Edith Annette, ae 12; Charles Austin, ae 9; Alice, ae 20 months) Sept. 30, 1879: South Windsor to Hebron. Peters has been unable to repay his bill. He has moved out of town. He says his father was Ira Peters & is dead now. He refers you to John F. Page or D.W. Post for information. He says he worked for Mr. Bliss, who has since died. He was born in Hebron and has lived there most of the time since. Oct. 21, 1879: Hebron to South Windsor. George Peters' father, Ira Peters, lived & died in Glastonbury and was buried by that town. George lived with Mr. Bliss when a boy but did not live in Hebron after he was 21 to gain a settlement here. Oct. 12, 1879: Chatham to Hebron. Edwin Peters, wife & 2 children on expense. Oct. 21, 1879: Hebron to Chatham. Edwin Peters & family are not inhabitants of Hebron. His father lived in Bolton 7 or 8 years & I have been told that they belong to that town. Dec. 13, 1879: Hebron to Montville. Bill for goods furnished Mrs. John Weeks, Feb. 12, 1878-Dec. 13, 1879. Dec. 26, 2879: M.W. Robinson, M.D., to Selectmen of Hebron. Peter Buser, an employee at Turnerville, was struck by the locomotive on the branch railroad and seriously if not fatally injured. He has no residence and is without doubt a state pauper. Dec. 30, 1879: Hebron to State of Connecticut. Buser was struck by locomotive on Dec. 25, 1879. He came to Hebron from Paterson, N.J. July 28, 1879.
