Andrews, 78, of 131 W. Shore Road, Ellington, died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at her daughter's home in Melrose, Fla. She was born Ruth Virginia Reede on April 14, 1922, in Santa Fe, Okla. She moved to Connecticut in 1942, where she met John Pinney Andrews while they both worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford. They were married on March 28, 1943. They lived in Ellington and also in Glastonbury until John retired in 1966, when they moved to Stuart, Fla. Shortly after John's death in 1986, Ruth moved to Fort Pierce, Fla. She eventually returned to the house where she lived as a bride in Ellington, spending winters with her daughter in Melrose. She was an avid gardener and an accomplished artist. She was a member of Second Congregational Church of Stafford at West Stafford. She also attended services and enjoyed singing in the choir in other churches in Connecticut and Florida. Ruth leaves her daughters, Sue Sinclair of Melrose and Toni Andrews of Miami; her son, Robert Andrews of Ledyard; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her brother, Richard Reede of Nogales, Ariz.; her son-in-law, MacLaine Sinclair; and her daughters-in-law, Linda Andrews and Ellen Andrews. A memorial service is planned for early summer and will be held near Crystal Lake in Ellington.
