Barnett, 82, of Monson Road, Stafford Springs, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs. He was the widower of the late Myrtle Hiltz, who died Oct. 29, 1991. Duane was born in Windsor, the son of the late Alexander and Leah Barnett. He was retired from the town of Stafford Highway Department after 14 years of service. The love of his life was farming and his dog, BO. Duane is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Duane R. and Michele Barnett, Robert E. and Denice Barnett, all of Stafford Springs, James A. Barnett of Springfield, and William D. and Marlene Barnett of Stafford Springs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne and Michael Williams of Stafford Springs, and Kathy and David Blake of Claremont, N.H.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, William Barnett and Stanley Barnett, both of Florida, and Alec Barnett of North Carolina; two sisters, Rena Parachino and Dorothy Bonvie, both of East Hartford; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Irene Muenchow. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at the Introvigne Funeral Home, 51 E. Main St., Stafford Springs, with the Rev. Sharon Miesel officiating. Burial will follow in Stafford Springs Cemetery. Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. today, May 7, at the funeral home.
