Windham County Transcript. April 21, 1965
Francis M. LeRoy, a son of a widow residing in this village, enlisted into the
16th U.S. Infantry, Nov. 11, 1863, and was wounded before Atlanta, Ga., on the
17th of August last and died September 14th, at the hospital at Vinings station.
Both legs having been amputated. By such sacrifices we today rejoice in victory.
May the martyr-patriots beheld in perpetual and grateful memory.
