Lyon Gardiner Tyler Fendall, Philip Ricard, born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1794. He was educated at Princeton College, graduating in 1815 and was admitted to the bar at Alexandria in 1820. soon afterwards removing to Washington City, where he served as district attorney 1841-45 and 1849-53. For many years he ranked as the leading advocate of the capital city. He was a brilliant writer and frequently contributed to the press on political and literary topics.
