JOHN MILLER DIES. Made Conspicuous Record for Bravery in Mexican and Civil Wars. Maj. John Miller, U. S. A., retired, who lived at the Westover Apartment House, corner Sixteenth and U streets northwest, died yesterday morning at 11:45 o'clock of a complication of diseases. The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 8 o'clock, from his residence. Interment will be at the Arlington National Cemetery. Maj. Miller was a veteran of the Mexican and civil wars, besides participating in numerous Indian campaigns and exploration expeditions in the West. he was in active service over thirty years. With the exception of his first year in the army, Maj. Miller's entire military service was with the Fourth United States Infantry. Maj. Miller was retired March 20, 1879, for disability incurred in line of duty, and in April, 1904, was advanced to the grade of major on the retired list. He was born in Ireland in 1828, and came to this country when a boy. He was one of the few remaining survivors of the old school of soldiers. Maj. Miller is survived by his wife, who was Miss Clara J. Dante, of this city.
