St. Paul’s Church, Portsmouth, Va., was the scene of a very pretty wedding Thursday afternoon, the contracting parties being Miss Mamie M. Beacham, of Craney Island, Va., daughter of Gunner E.J. Beacham, of the U.S. Navy, and Mr. F.P. Smoot, of this city. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Father Hanly, after which the bridal party proceeded to the steamer George Leary for this city. A wedding breakfast was served at the residence of the groom’s father, at which were the members of the family. The bride was attired in a very pretty traveling dress of gold brown and Henrietta cloth. The groom is the son of Mr. John W. Smoot, of East Washington. The ushers were Mr. J.H. Dickinson and Mr. W.B. Clements, of Portsmouth, Va. They will be pleased to see their friends at their new home, 707 D street southeast.
