Little Lulie Magruder Recanted Her Story of Felonious Assault. Special to The Post. Rockville, Md., Jan. 20.-The preliminary hearing of Samuel Stewart, colored, who has been confined in jail since Friday, charged with felonious assault on Lulie Magruder, also colored, came off this morning, and resulted in Stewart being committed to jail by Justice Stonestreet to await the action of the Grand Jury. The trial brought out singular developments. At the time of the assault the victim, who is a child of eleven years old, was instrumental in causing the arrest of Stewart, she having told her sister about the outrage, and the sister procured the warrant. At the hearing to-day, however, Lulie insisted that there had been no trouble between her and the prisoner, and said that she was only fooling when she told her story to her sister. Her sister, however, testified as to Lulie telling her of the affair, and stated that her condition at the time was proof to her that the assault had been made. It also developed that as soon as Stewart was arrested, Lulie Magruder disappeared from her home near Rockville, and was found in Washington on Saturday. Lulie explains her disappearance by saying she went to Washington to visit relatives.
