DIED.

   JOSEPH.-On the 23rd day of August, at 9:30 P.M., DEBORAH JOSEPH, wife of 
Joseph Joseph, in the 71st year of her age.
   Funeral will take place from her late residence, 516 9th st. s.e., to-day 
(Thursday), August 25, at 3:30 o'clock P.M.

   RIGGS.-At his late country residence,  "Green Hill,"  Prince George's 
county, Md., on Wednesday, August 24, 1881, GEORGE W. RIGGS, in the 69th 
year of his age.
   Funeral services to be held at St. Aloysius's church, on Friday, August 
26, at 4 o'clock P.M.  The friends of the family are invited to attend.
