Maj. Henry T. Allen Makes Announcement of Appointments. Judges for the second annual exhibit of the coming National Capital Horse Show were appointed yesterday by Maj. Henry T. Allen, as follows: Harness horses— Judge W. H. Moore, H. K. Bloodgood, and G. H. Davidson; hunters, J. W. Graves and A. Devereaux; saddle class, L. E. Waring; polo ponies, W. H. Hazard; chargers, Col. Greble and Col. Stanley, U. S. A. The premium list has been mailed to horse owners all over the country. WOULD ADMIT NEW MEMBERS. Board of Trade Committee Passes on Ten Applications. The membership committee of the Board of Trade at its regular meeting last night made a favorable report on ten applications for membership. Secretary of the Treasury MacVeagh has been invited to make an address at the meeting of the board tonight. Hebrew Feast of the Passover. Closing exercises for the Hebrew season of passover will be held at the Eighth Street Temple Sunday evening at 7 o'clock and Monday morning at 10 o'clock, Rabbi Simon officiating at both services. An elaborate musical program has been arranged. At Adas Israel Temple there will be prayers and a sermon at 7 o'clock Sunday evening, 8:30 Monday morning, and 8:30 Tuesday morning. Rabbi Joseph Gloshak will officiate. There will be no music. At Ahove Sholem Temple services will be held at 8 o'clock Monday and Tuesday mornings. Rabbi Silverstone will officiate. There will be no music. GRAND JURY IS SWORN IN. Ernest B. Herrel Designated to Act as Foreman for April Term. The grand jury for the April term of court was sworn in yesterday before Justice Anderson, and Ernest E. Herrell, assistant cashier of the National Capital Bank, was designated to act as foreman. The other members of the jury are William L. Smith, Lemuel J. Carter, Lawrence J. Mills, Charles H. Bateman, Charles C. Pfluger, Ernest Bets, Thomas Ward, Nathaniel G. Mitchell, Charles E. De?sez, Otto Bauer, George B. Altorfer, David E. Barry, Charles Whitlow, Sidney West, Charles Sonneman, George F. Collins, John E. Fort, Levin C. Handy, Felix Dennis, S. Sprigg Belt, Louis Cook, and Aloysius B. McClosky. BODY OF INFANT FOUND. Police Searching for Person Who Left Corpse in Union Station. The body of a white infant, apparently only a few days old, was left in the waiting room at the Union Station yesterday afternoon by an unidentified person. It was discovered wrapped in old newspapers by Mrs. Vogel, the matron, and turned over to the Metropolitan policemen detailed at the depot. Later it was sent to the morgue. The police have no clew as to who put the body there. It was clad in white. The coroner is also investigating. ELKS INSTALL NEW OFFICERS. Frank A. Kidd Succeeds James L. Ward as Exalted Ruler. Washington Lodge of Elks began its fiscal year last night with the installation of new officers, the election of a large class of candidates to membership, and a gift of appreciation to the retiring exalted ruler. The Elks congratulated James L. Ward, the retiring exalted ruler, and welcomed as its new head, Frank A. Kidd. Robert E. Mattingly, one of the past exalted rulers of Washington Lodge, representing the district deputy, was the officer who installed, in addition to Mr. Kidd, John J. Gorman, esteemed leading knight; George F. Havell, esteemed loyal knight; E. J. Murphy, esteemed lecturing knight; Richard A. O'Brien, secretary; Michael J. McCormick, treasurer; Thomas J. King, tiler, and P. J. Foley, Samuel Kimberley, and Harry B. Howe, trustees. The other lodge officers will be named at the next meeting. The Elks spring festival will be held from April 15 to ??, and a merry whirl of amusement is promised. DISTRICT TO INDORSE CLARK. Democratic Central Committee Indicates Presidential Preference An informal meeting of the Democratic central committee of the District of Columbia was held last evening at Costello's Hall. Walter J. Costello, vice chairman, presided. During the meeting it was made evident that the committee, at its regular meeting next week, will be unanimously in favor of the nomination of Speaker Champ Clark for the Presidency, and that the six delegates and six alternates to the convention in Baltimore will be so instructed. At a meeting of the Northwest Democratic Club, held in its rooms, 1502 Fourteenth street northwest, last night, Dr. Samuel E. Lewis, the president, outlined the club's policies. Addresses were made by F. C. Bates and John Boyd.
