Leahy, 72, retired buildings superintendent of the Washington Gas Light Co., died Sunday at Providence Hospital after a long illness. He lived at 4632 12th St NE. A lifelong resident of Washington, Mr. Leahy had the second longest service record in the history of the company. Starting in 1906 as a water boy at the age of 11, he retired in 1959 after more than 53 years of service with the company. He is survived by his wife Mary; two son, James H., Jr., of Chesapeake, Va., and Ralph J., of Rockville; a sister, Catherine Schwab of Marlow Heights, Md., and three grandchildren.
