The Seventeenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Eight I Isaac Mason of Mispillion Hundred in the County of Kent on Delaware Being very Sick and weak in Body, but of perfect Mind and memory, Thanks be given unto God therefore, Calling unto Mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye, do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament: That is to Say Principally, and first of all, I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of God that give it; and for my Body, I recommend it to the earth, to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner, at the discretion of my Executors, Nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection, I shall receive the Same Again by the Mighty Power of God, And so touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life, I give devise and dispose of the same in the Following manner and form.------- Imprimus I give and bequeath unto Caterne Mason my beloved wife my Best Bed and furniture and the Choice of two Cows and Calves and one Brown Mare Coult, and Ten head of Sheep to her her heirs or assigns. Item I give and bequeath to my son John Mason one Hundred and forty four acres of Land being my part of a Larger Track called (blot) ______ field unto him his heirs or assigns forever. Item I give and bequeath to my son Isaac Mason Seventy five acres of Land being Part of a Larger track Called Springfield together with twelve and a half acres a Joyning the same being part of a North track called Bridgetown to him his heirs and assigns forever. Item I give and bequeath to my son Daniel Mason Eighty three acres of Land Being my Shear of a parseal of Land Joshua Clark and myself Purchased of the heirs of Mark Manlove to him his heirs and assigns forever. Item I give and bequeath to my Son John Mason one two year old brown horse and Saddle to him his heirs or assigns forever. Item I give and bequeath to my two Eldest Daughters, Persy Spencer and Susannah Crapper five shillings Each to them their Heirs and assigns forever. Item I give and bequeath to my Beloved wife and five younger daughters the Remainder of my Personal Estate after the Just Debts and Credits are paid to be Equally Divided amounst them: and Lastly I do hereby Constitute make and ordain my beloved wife Catterne Mason my only and Sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament: and I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke and disannul all and Every other former Testaments, Wills Legacies and Executors, by me in any ways before this time Named Willed and Bequeathed, Ratifying and Confirming this and no other my Last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have here unto Sett my hand and Seal, the Day and year within written. Signed, Sealed Published Pronounced and declared by the Said Isaac Mason as his Last will and testament in Presence of us the subscribers John Clark Joshua Clark Isaac Mason (Seal) Thomas Bowman Kent County on Delaware Personally appeared before me Thomas Rodney register for the Probate of wills and Granting Letters of Administration in and for the County of Kent Afsd Joshua Clark and Thomas Bowman two of the Subscribing Witnesses to the above and within Will of Isaac Mason, late of this County deceased and the said Joshua Clark being Sworn upon the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God and the said Thomas Bowman being one of the People called Quakers on his Solemn Affirmation do declare and say that they saw and heard the said Isaac Mason Sign, Seal, Publish, Pronounce and declare the above and within Instrument of writing as and for his last Will and Testament, That at the time of this so doing and Saying he was to the Best of their Belief of Sound & disposing mind and memory, that they at his Instance and Request and in his Presence Signed and saw each Other Sign their names as Witnesses to the same, and at the same time, and at the like Instance and request, and in his presence also they saw John Clark, Esq. Sign his name as one other Witness, do the same. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my Hand at Dover this thirteenth day of January Anno Dom. 1779 Thomas Rodney Reg: ______________________________________ Isaac Mason, Jr., of Kent County, DE, was the second son of Isaac Mason and Susannah Harmason (Harmanson) widow of David Roe, Mason. His other daughters were Elizabeth, Catherine, Eleanor m to Gallaudet Oliver, Rhoda, and Mary Ann Mason.
