Will of John Mason b 9 May 1760 Kent DE (Quaker) Will made 23 June 1814 I John Mason of Kent County and the State of Delaware being Sick of body but of perfect and disposing mind and memory do make and constitute this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (Viz:) Firstly, it is my Will and desire that my Executor hereafter named shall dispose of all my Estate both real and personal to the highest and best bidder as soon after my decease as he may deem proper and right and pay all my last debts. Secondly I will and bequeath to my grand son John Mason Hall three Hundred Dollars. Thirdly, I will and bequeath to my son James Mason one moiety or half of my Estate after the payment of my debts and the above Legacy of Three hundred dollars to John Mason Hall. Fourthly I will and bequeath to my Daughter Harriett Sudler Mason the Interest on the other moiety or half of my estate to be paid to her annually by my Executor so long as she may be single and when she may enter the matrimonial estate if she can may so do with the consent of my Executor the Principal to be paid to her but if his assent may not be given to her union it is my will and desire that Interest may cease and the principal be paid over to my son James Mason. Fifthly It is my Will and desire that my Negro woman Esther shall have her full and certain freedom four months after my decease. Sixthly Lastly I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my brother Daniel Mason my whole and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and annulling all other Will or Wills hereby declaring this and none other my last Will and Testament. Witness my hand this the twenty third day of June one thousand eight hundred and fourteen.
