Ref: Deeds-Somerset Co, Vol. E, folio 17a & b, dated Dec 13, 1768 This indenture made this thirteenth day of December, in the year of our lord one-thousand-seven-hundred and sixty-eight between George Lane Moore of Somerset County, and province of Maryland, of the one part and Samuel Hearn of the same place, of the other part, witnesseth that the said George Lane Moore for and in consideration of the sum of five pounds, current money, of Maryland to him in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery hereof of the receipt whereof he doth hereby confers and acknowledge and thereof doth acquit , exonerate, and discharge the said Samuel Hearn, his heirs, executors, and Administrators, forever by these presents hath granted, bargained, and sold, aliened, relived, conveyed, and confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, and sell, alien, release, convey, and confirm unto the said Samuel Hearne and his heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land called "Moore's Chance", situate, lying, and being in Somerset County af'd and on the Eastern most side of Chesipeke Bay and bounded as followeth; Beginning at a marked Red Oak standing between the head of Hughes Branch and the dranes of Tursekey Branch and on the south side of a tract of land called "Hard Fortune", surveyed for Benjamin Callaway, thence with a line drawn south sixteen degrees, west sixty perches, thence south twenty-five degrees, west twenty perches , thence south seventy degrees, west forty-six perches thence north eighty-nine degrees, west twenty-seventy- nine perches and from thence with a right line to the first beginning containing and laid out for fifty acres, be the same more or less together with all improvements, benefits, and advantages thereto belonging or in any manner appertaining to have and to hold the af'd parcel of land hereby conveyed or so intended to be unto the said Samuel Hearne and to his heirs and assigns forever, to the only proper use, benefit, and advantage of the said Samuel Hearne and of his heirs and assigns forever and for no other use, intent, or purpose, whatsoever and the said George Lane Moore for himself his heirs, executors, and Administrators doth hereby convey, and agree and with the said Samuel Hearne, his heirs and assigns that he the said George Lane Moore and his heirs the land and premises af'd against him and them and all other persons legally claiming the same from by or under him or his heirs unto the said Samuel Hearne and to his heirs and assigns forever will warrant and forever defend by these presents, in witness whereof the parties af'd have hereunto interchangeably their hands, set seals, fixed the day and year af'd. To Wit: the thirteenth day of December, in the year of our lord, one thousand- seven-hundred -sixty-eight, came before us the subscribers, two of his lordships justices of the peace for the county afsd the within named George Lane Moore and Marey Moore, his wife and she being by us (strutly) examined apart from her husband did with her acknowledge the within mentioned Sand and premises to be the right and property of the within named Samuel Herne and of his heirs and forever according to the true intent and meaning of the within Deed agreeable to an act of assembly in such case made and provided. Before Wm Winder Wm Adams Jan. 9,1769 Recd of Samuel Hearne two shillings sterling, alienation fine on the within mentioned land .
