I, Ann Black of the County of Sussex being very weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God, calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will & testament. That is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto the Hand of Almighty God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian manner at the direction of my executors. Nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Mighty Power of God -- and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to [Endow] me with in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form: Item - I give to my beloved daughter Jean Walton, the wife of George Walton, ten pounds money. Item - I give to my beloved son Adam Black, the sum of ten pounds in money. Item - I give to William Hazzard who intermarried with my daughter Ann Black, the sum of ten pounds money. Item - I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Campbell the sum of five shillings in money to her and her heirs for ever. Item - I give to my daughter Sarah Black, the sum of ten shillings. Item - I give unto the heirs of my son James Black, dec'd - by name: Mary, Tery, Elizabeth, Joseph and Magdalen Black, five shillings in money to them and their heirs for ever. Item - I give unto my granddaughter Betty May, five shillings in money to her and her heirs for ever. Item - I give unto my grandson William Black one featherbed and furniture and 1 young bay mare to him and his heirs for ever. Item - I give unto my granddaughter Ann Black, daughter of Mitchel Black, one negro woman named Sarah, one negro child named Than and one mare colt to her and her heirs for ever. Item - I give unto my granddaughter Jean Black, the sum of five shillings in money to her and her heirs for ever. Item - I give unto my son David Black, one negro man named Will, two three year old mares, one young mare two years old to him and his heirs for ever provided he return home; if not to my two sons John and Benjamin Black to them and their heirs and assigns to be equally divided. My desire is that the negro man be hired out and the money kept for my son David by my executors. Item - My will and desire is that my wearing apparel be equally divided between my granddaughters by the name Ann Black. [??] Item - I give unto my son George, one negro man named Isaac to him and his heirs for ever. Item - I give unto my granddaughter Ann Walton six Qucam(?) plates to her and her heirs for ever. Item - I give unto my beloved sons John Black and Benjamin Black their heirs and assigns. I likewise constitute, make and ordain the sole executors of this my last will and testament all the remainder part of my estate by them freely to be possessed and enjoyed. And I do hearby disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former testament, wills, legacies, bequests, and executors by me in any wise before named, will and bequests ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In wittness thereof I have heron to set my hand and seal this eighteenth day of June one thousand and seven hundred and eighty three.
