The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.org Contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Debby O'Neal *********************************************************************** JOSEPH CHIPMAN Will written February 2, 1861; filed February 19, 1861 Recorded in Will Book M Folio 218 I Joseph Chipman of the town of Laurel Sussex County State of Delaware do make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made and first I direct that my body be decently interred in the burying ground of my Grand Father Josiah Neal deceased in Broad Creek Hundred Sussex County and that my funeral be conducted in a manor corresponding with my estate and situation in life = as follows, it is my wish and desire to be buried in a good walnut coffin well furnished. It is also my wish to have placed at my head a full marble tombstone well finished. also the date of my birth and death and the disease which I died with inserted on the tomb. First I direct that all my debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon after my decease as possible out of the first money that shall come in to the hands of my executor from any portion of my estate, real or personal = I give and bequeath to my brother Wm Chipman a young bay mair. I give and bequeath to my cousin Wm O'Neal my gold watch and chain as a token of remembrance. I give and bequeath to Mrs Abigial O'Neal widow of Josiah O'Neal, the sum of fifty dollars also I give and bequeath to her daughter Mrs. Mariah J. Short as a small token of remembrance of her kindness forty dollars also I give and bequeath to my Aunt Mary Owens forty dollars, also I give and bequeath to my Aunt Margaret Ward forty dollars also I give and bequeath to George W. Drain the Sum of forty dollars, also I give and bequeath all the residew of my real and personal estate to my bro Wm Chipman and half brother Thomas Chipman to be equally divided between them share and share alike and I do hereby make and ordane my eternal friend Jacob Bounds executor of this my last will and testament. It is my wish and desire for the executor to see that the above will is strictly complyed with. In witness thereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal, the second day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty one.
