DELAWARE PROBATE 1830-32 OF Jane Poynter In the Name of God Amen the 3rd Day of September in the year of Eighteen Hundred and thirty (1830) I Jane Poynter (widow of Ratcliff Poynter, dec'd) of the County of Sussex and State of Delaware Being unwell and weak in Body But of sound Mind and Memory thanks be to God for the Same and Calling to Mind the Mortality of my Body and Knowing that, it is appointed for all Men once to die do Make and Ordain this my Last will and Testament That is to Say Principally and first of all I Remand my Soul into the hands of God that Gave it and as for my Body I Recommend it to the Earth to be Buried in a Descent Manner at the Discretion of my Executor Nothing Doubting. But I shall ...........the Same again and as Touching my worldly Estate Wherewith it has Pleased God to Bless me With in this Life I give and desire to be Disposed of in the Manner and form following. Item 1st-my will & desire is that after my Decease, that my Wearing Apparrel Shall be Equally divided Between My Sister, Karen Shockley, Phebe Griffith-Daughter of Joseph Griffith, Dec'd and my Black Girl Cidney ( and also one Bed and Furniture to Said Pheby Griffith ( and I desire that Hester Jane Griffith daughter of Potter Griffith Shall have Ten Dollars, $10.00 Good and Lawful money as a Legacy and that the balance of my Personal Property Shall be sold and after my Debts and funeral Expenses are all paid my Desire is that the Balance Shall be Equally divided Between Karen Shockley and Pheby Griffith. And I Do hereby Ordain Constitute and Appoint Potter Griffith to be the Executor of this my Last will and Testament Ratifying and confirming this and No other to be my Last Will and Testament. In testamony Whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal Day and Year before Written. Jane Poynter her mark Signed Sealed Published pronouced and declared her Last will & Testament.
