To all Whom these presents shall come _________
I Edmund Bird Commissioner of Alachua County send greeting ____
                Whereas by an order of the County Court of Alachua County in the Territory of Florida, 
duly passed and entered of record it is directed that the Commissioner of said County, shall make Execute 
and deliver, to the purchaser of lots in the Town of Newnansville, Deeds of Conveyance of the Lots by 
them respectively entered,  And Whereas George Clinton Westcott stands noted and entered upon the plot 
of said Town in my Custody as the purchaser of the Lot hereafter Specified
                Now Know ye,  That I the said Edmund Bird Commissioner of said County of Alachua, 
by virtue of the Authority so as aforesaid in me vested in Consideration of the sum of Fifteen 50/100 
Dollars paid by the said George Clinton Westcott, the receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged have 
granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said George Clinton 
Westcott and his heirs and assigns forever  All that certain lot designated as Lot number One of Block 
number 6 in the third range of Blocks in said Village as the same have been Surveyed and designated upon 
the plan of the Town, as filed and existing in the Clerks Office of the County Court of Alachua County 
Aforesaid.  Together with all and Singular the heriditaments and Appurtenances to the same in or any wise 
belonging,  To have and to hold the said Lot and premises and every part thereof  with the Appurtenances 
unto the said George Clinton Westcott his heirs and assigns forever as fully and absolutely as I the said 
Edmund Bird Commissioner Aforesaid and under the Authority  Aforesaid Might could or ought to sell and 
convey the same__
        In Testimony Whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Affixed my Seal this twenty sixth day of 
October AD 1840

Alachua County                Be it Remembered that on this Twenty sixth day of October in this year of our 
Lord One thousand eight hundred & forty, before me James McNeill Clerk of the County Court of Alachua 
County, duly commissioned and Qualified, personally came John Ricord, the Subscribing Witness to the 
foregoing Deed of Conveyance, Who being duly Sworn, declares and says, that he saw Edmund Bird the 
Grantor in the said Deed, Sign, Seal, & deliver the same for the purposes in the said Deed mentioned___
