All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/fl/flfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Jim Powell, http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00030.html#0007445 April 1999 "Transcribed by Jim Powell Jr from Records provided by Buddy Irby, Alachua County Clerk of the Court's Office" Page 422-423 Territory of Florida Alachua County This Indenture made this twenty day of August One thousand eight hundred & forty two between Willis Chamberlin of the County and Territory Aforesaid of the one part and James Sparkman of the County of Columbia and Territory Aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth, That the said Willis Chamberlin hath this day made and delivered to the said James Sparkman, his certain promissory Note subscribed with his own hand, and bearing even date with these presents Whereby the said Willis Chamberlin hath promised to pay the said James Sparkman or bearer the sum of Two hundred Dollars on or before the twenty third day of August One thousand eight hundred & forty three for value received. Now therefore for the better Securing the payment of the Aforesaid promissory Note, the said Willis Chamberlin, hath granted, bargained & Sold, and doth by these presents, grant bargain and Sell unto the said James Sparkman his heirs & Assigns, the following property to wit. Eighty Acres of Land and improvements thereon, lying and being in the County & Territory Aforesaid on the road leading from Fort Harlee to Newnansville and known by the name of Rollins Place also thirty head of Stock Hogs also One Horse One Cart & gear One Double barrel shot gun One Patent Brass eight day Clock One hundred bushels of Corn and all of the farming utensils belonging to the said Willis Chamberlin, To have and to hold the said bargained premises & property to the said James Sparkman his heirs and Assigns, to his and their own proper use benefit and behoof forever, And the said Willis Chamberlin for himself his heirs executors and Administrators, the said bargained premises and property unto the said James Sparkman, Will Warrant and forever defend against the claim of himself and his heirs and against the claim of all other persons Whatever ____ Provided Nevertheless, that if the said Willis Chamberlin his heirs Executors and Administrators shall and do well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said James Sparkman his heirs and Assigns the aforemetioned sum of two hundred Dollars on the day and time mentioned and appointed with the lawful interest for the same, according to the tenor of said Note, then and from thenceforth as well this present Indenture and the right to the property thereby conveyed as the said promissory Note shall cease determine and be void to all intents and purposes ____ In Testimony whereof the said Willis Chamberlin hath hereunto set his hand & Seal the day & year above Written Signed Sealed & delivered Willis Chamberlin (L.S.) in presence of Wm.
