Crum of Alachua County and Territory of Florida of the first part and Samuel L. Burritt of said Territory of the second part, Whereas the said party of the first part stands indebted to the said party of the second part, in the sum of six hundred Dollars lawful money of the United States, by his certain Bond or writing Obligatory bearing date the day and year aforesaid payable to the said Samuel L. Burritt, or his Assigns with interest thereon six months after the date thereof in said sum of Six hundred Dollars, as by the said Bond or writing Obligatory reference being thereunto had will more fully appear Now this Indenture Witnesseth for the better Securing the payment of the said sum of money in the said Bond or writing Obligatory mentioned with the interest thereon acording to the tenor and effect of said Bond, And also in consideration of the sum of Ten Dollars lawful Money of the United States in hand paid to the said party of the first part, at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged The said part of the first part hath bargained and sold, and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto the said party of the second part his heirs and Assigns a certain Negroe Male Slave (the property of the said party of the first part) named Cato aged forty years or thereabouts, To have and to hold said slave Cato, unto him the said party of the second part his heirs and Assigns forever ___ Provided always nevertheless and these presents are upon the express condition, that if the said party of the first part his executors Administrators or Assigns shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Samuel L. Burritt his certain Attorney Executors Administrators or Assigns the said sum of money mentioned in the said Bond or writing Obligatory at the time and in the manner specified therein, According to the tenor and effect thereof and the Interest which may then be due thereon According to the Tenor and effect of the said Bond or writing Obligatory, and the interest which may then be due theron Then as well, the Estate hereby granted as the said Bond and this Indenture shall cease determine and be absolutely void, Else to remain in full force and virtue ____ In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal the day and year first above written Richard R.
