Hanson of St. Augustine and county of St. Johns Aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth, whereas the said Humphreys stands justly indebted to said Hanson in the sum of Three hundred & thirty five dollars agreeably to the tenor of his Promissory Note bearing even date with these presents, Nowtherefore the said Humphreys in Consideration of the Premises for the better securing the payment to said Hanson of the said sum of three hundred and thirty five dollars And for the sum of five dollars by the said Hanson to the said Humphreys in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto said Hanson his executors Administrators and assigns three Negro Slaves to wit, Sam about thirty five years of age and his wife Dolly about thirty years of age and her child named Lucy a female about Eight years of age together with all the future issue and increase of the said female Dolly: To have and to hold said above bargained & sold Negro Slaves together with all the future issue and increase of the said female Dolly unto the said Hanson his executors, administrators and assigns forever. Provided Nevertheless and these presents are upon this Condition that if the said Humphreys shall and doth well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Hanson the said sum of three Hundred and thirty five Dollars on or before the first day of January Next then these presents and every matter and thing herein contained shall cease and be utterly void Otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue In Witness whereof the said Co'l Gad Humphreys hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above written Signed Sealed and Delivered G. Humphreys (seal) in presence of D. Levy D. Martinelly City of St. Augustine East Florida 18th day of September 1833 personally appeared before me J. Gray Jr Mayor of the City of St. Augustine D. Levy who being duly sworn deposes and says that G. Humphreys did in his presence sign seal and acknowledge the within instrument as his Act and Deed given under my hand and seal this 18th day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and thirty two J.
