All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/fl/flfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Jim Powell, http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00030.html#0007445 April 1999 "Transcribed by Jim Powell Jr from Records provided by Buddy Irby, Alachua County Clerk of the Court's Office" Page 378-380 Territory of Florida Alachua County This Indenture made this Twentieth day of January in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred & forty Between Moses Horne of the first part and James Barnet both of the County & Territory Aforesaid of the second part Witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred Dollars in hand paid by the said party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged, hath bargained Sold conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents Do grant bargain Sell & Confirm unto the Said party of the Second part, a tract of Land being the North half of the South east quarter of section number One Township number eight Range number eighteen South and East containing One hundred and sixty Acres and one twelfth hundreds of an Acre Situated in said County and Territory Aforesaid, To have and to hold with all and Singular , the rights, members and Appurtenances thereof to the said party of the second part, being belonging or in any wise appertaining, with the remainder and remainders reversion and reversions, rents issues and profits thereof to the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said party of the second part his heirs, Executors, Administrators and Assigns in fee simple forever and the said party of the first part, his heirs executors Administrators and Assigns, the said bargained premises unto the said party of the second part, his heirs , executors, Administrators and Assigns, Against the said party of the first part, his heirs executors & Administrators and all and every person or persons whatsoever, shall and will Warrant and forever defend by virtue of these presents ___ In Witness Whereof the said party of the first part hath hereunto Set his hand & seal day and year first above written Signed Sealed & delivered In presence of us Moses Horne (seal) S. Taylor Know all men by these presents that I Melinda Horne wife of the Grantor in the above Deed of Conveyance Do hereby renounce release and forever relinquish all my right of Dower in and to the premises mentioned therein____ Her Signed & Sealed in presence of Melinda X Horne (seal) S. Fagan JP mark Territory of Florida Alachua County Be it remembered that Melinda Horne whose name is affixed to the foregoing Renunciation of Dower was this day examined by me separately and apart from her husband Moses Horne when she Acknowledged that she executed the said renunciation freely Voluntarily and of her own accord, without any constraint, compulsion or fear of or from her said husband, or of any other person or persons whatsoever Before me this Twentieth day of January AD 1840 Stephen Fagan J.P. Territory of Florida Alachua County Personally Appeared before me James McNeill Clerk of the County Court for said County, John S. Taylor who made oath that he saw Moses Horne & Melinda his wife sign Seal and deliver the foregoing instrument of writing for the uses and purposes therein mentioned ____ Sworn to before me John S.
