Putnam of St. Augustine E. Florida on the other part Witnesseth Whereas the said Benjamin A. Putnam an Attorney at Law, hath in the course of a litigation with the United States, rendered various services important and beneficial to the said Peter Mitchel, in Maintaining the titles to the lands of the Arredondo Grants, herein after mentioned, and for and in consideration of the sum of One Dollar, to the said Peter Mitchel well and truly paid by the said Benjamin A. Putnam the receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged by the said Peter Mitchel, the said Peter Mitchel hath bargained, Sold, Aliened conveyed and confirmed and by these presents, doth bargain Sell Alien Convey and confirm unto the said Benjamin A. Putnam An undivided share or portion Consisting of One thousand Acres of the land in Alachua in East Florida, commonly known, by the name of the Arredondo Grant and which were granted to Fernando de la Maza Arredond and son by Don Alexander Rameriez Intendant of the Army and Superintendent general and Subdelegate of the Island of Cuba and the Florida by Concession bearing date the Twenty second day of December Eighteen hundred & Seventeen, together with all and singular the rights, rents, improvements, members and Appurtenances to the said to the said undivided One thousand Acres, belonging or in any wise Appertaining To have and to hold the said undivided One thousand Acres together with all and Singular the Appurtenances thereof unto the said Benjamin A. Putnam his heirs, Executors Administrators and assigns forever In Witness whereof the said Peter Mitchel hath hereunto set his hand and Seal at Savannah in the County aforesaid, day and year first above written ___ Signed & Sealed in Our presence Peter Mitchel (seal) John P. Williamson Ch's Martingle Georgia City of Savannah Be it known that on the sixth day of June One thousand eight hundred and thirty seven before me, Robert Milledge Charlton, Commissioner of Territory of Florida, by Lawful Authority, duly appointed and sworn, and residing practising in the said City of Savannah & State of Georgia personally came Peter Mitchel of the County of Chatham and State aforesaid, and known to me to be the identical individual Mentioned in the foregoing Deed of Bargain & Sale to Benjamin Putnam and the said Peter Mitchel in my said office in Savannah, did Acknowledge, that he had Signed, Sealed and executed the said Deed as his own Act and deed, and for the purposes therein mentioned and expressed In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and afixed my seal of Office at Savannah aforesaid this sixth day of June One thousand eight and thirty Seven Robert M.
