This Indenture the twenty Second day of January in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred & 
forty one   Between John J. Sanchez Commissioner for the Town of Newnansville for the sale of Town 
Lots duly appointed by the Judge of the County Court of Alachua County pursuant to an Act of the 
Legislative Council of the Territory of Florida to that effect of the first part and James M. Bates of 
Newnansville of the second part   Witnesseth That Whereas the said James M. Bates has become a 
purchaser of the Town Lots herein after Specified   Now know  ye that I the said John J. Sanchez 
Commissioner as Aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of Thirty six Dollars lawful money to me in 
hand paid there receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these 
presents Do grant bargain and sell unto the said James M. Bates his heirs & assigns forever   All those 
certain Lots designated as Lots number six and seven in the half range upon the plan of the Town of 
Newnansville as Surveyed by Michael garrison Esquire  Together with all and Singular the hereditaments 
and Appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions 
remainder and remainders rents issues and profits thereof___  To have and to hold the same unto the said 
James M. Bates his heirs and Assigns as fully and Absolutely as I the said John J. Sanchez Commissioner 
as Aforesaid under the Authority aforesaid might could or ought to convey the same
                In Witness Whereof I the said John J. Sanchez Commissioner as aforesaid have hereunto 
set my hand and seal the day and year first above written  ___
