All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ******************************************************************************************* CONTRIBUTOR'S NOTE: I have no relationship to anyone mentioned in the below file. ******************************************************************************************* Application No. Al1324 Widow's Application for Pension State of Florida,} County of Alachua} On this 31st day of August, 1897, personally appeared before me, a notary public in and for the said County and State aforesaid, Mrs. Nancy Bass aged sixty one years, who being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in order to obtain the pension provided by act of the Legislature, approved June 8th, 1889, and amended June 2d, 1893, and June 15th, 1897, for unmarried widows of deceased Confederate soldiers and sailors; I am the widow of Wiley Bass who enlisted in Captain High Bowing Company, 29th Georgia Regiment ____ Brigade, and who at Atlanta in the State of Georgia, while in said service in and the line of duty, on the ____ day of February 1865, was afflicted with yellow jaundice which impaired his health in after life and on the 26th of Feb. 1895 was taken with pneumonia which caused his death on 5th day of Mar. 1895 and that I have been a bona fide citizen of the State of Florida continuously since January 1st, 1880, and am now a citizen of Alachua county; that I do not own property to the value of $1,500 in this or any other State, and am not otherwise enabled or in a position to earn a livelihood; that I am not receiving a pension from the United States or any State; and have not remarried since the death of said Wiley Bass & that he never deserted the State of Confederate service. Regiment Filed In Executive Department Jany. 17, 1898 Card ******************************************************************************************* Widow's Application for Pension State of Florida,} Alachua County} On this 1st day of January, 1902, personally appeared before me a notary public in and for said county and State Nancy Bass, aged 75 years, who, being by me duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in order to obtain the pension provided by act of the Legislature, approved May 3, 1901, for indigent widows of deceased and aged Confederate soldiers and sailors: I am the lawful widow of Wiley Bass, who enlisted Oct. 3, 1861, in Captain H. C. Bowen Company, 29 Regiment of the State of Ga., and who while in actual service and in the line of duty as such private, was on the ____ day of ____, 186_, at ____, in the State of ____ died in Feby. 1895 in Alachua Co., Fla. (Here state fully and clearly all the facts, showing date and cause of death.) Wiley Bass died typoid [sic] phenmonia [sic] 5th day of March 1896. That I was legally married to said soldier prior to the first day of January, 1885 by Rev. Wm. Kitchens in the State of Ga.; that I have been a bona fide resident of the State of Florida continuously since the first day of January, A. D. 1890; that I do not own property, real and personal, to the value of $800 in this or any other State, and am not otherwise enabled, or in a position to earn a livelihood, and have no income from any source sufficient for a livelihood; and that I have not purposely disposed of my property for the purpose of availing myself of the provisions of this act. D. 1890; that I do not own property, real and personal, to the value of $800 in this or any other State, and am not otherwise enabled, or in a position to earn a livelihood, and have no income from any source sufficient for a livelihood; and that I have not purposely disposed of my property for the purpose of availing myself of the provisions of this act. That she is the widow of Wiley Bass who was enlisted under the name of Wiley Bass, on the date not known day of ____, 186_, in Company Bowing's 29th Regiment of the State of Georgia. That she was lawful married to the said Wiley Bass under the name of Nancy Pasey in the County of Irving, State of Georgia on the 10th day of March, 1853, and that she was not divorced from him and that she has not remarried since his death, which occurred on the 7th day of February, 1885, in the County of Alachua State of Florida. That she is a resident of Alachua County, Florida, and has continuously resided in the State of Florida since the ____ day of January 1875. That she does not own property, including real estate, personal property, mortgages or other collateral securities, stocks or bonds in this or any other State to exceed in value the sum of Five Thousand Dollars.
