T. Bagley who being by me duly sworn, declares he is the identical person who enlisted on or about the ___ day of November 1862 in Captain Winston Stephen's Company, county of Nassau, in the State of Florida and that while in actual service in said company B 2nd Cavalry Regiment of the State of Florida and in line of duty as such soldier, at ____, State of ____ on or about the ____ day of ____, 186_, and was honorably discharged at the expiration of his service on the 22nd day of May 1865 in Alachua county, State Florida, he was discharged by reason of the surrender and by reason of my age and being wounded 5 times during the war one wound breaking a bone in my ankle. I am unable to earn a livelyhood [sic] by manual labor and that as the direct result of said injuries, thus received in line of duty during the war, he is now unable to gain a livelihood by manual labor; that he has continuously since January 1st, 1885, been a citizen of Florida; that neither he, nor his wife, nor both combined, own real and personal property to the value of $800 in this or any other State, and have not purposely disposed of any property for the purpose of availing themselves of the provisions of the pension laws of Florida; that he is not otherwise enabled or in a position to earn, and has no income from any source sufficient for a livelihood by manual labor, and that he never deserted the Confederate service, and that he receives no pension from any other source. Wienges I do solemnly swear that I was born on the 9 day of March 1840 in Pierce county, State of Georgia and that I am now past the age of sixty-five (65) years; that I was a bona-fide citizen of this State of January A. D. 1885, and have continuously resided in the State since that date; that I do not own property, real or personal, or real and personnel, to the value of eight hundred dollars ($800), and that I am by reason of age incapable of providing a living by manual labor for myself. D. One Thousand Nine Hundred and nine personally appeared before me, a notary public in and for the county and State aforesaid, C. T. Bagley who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is 69 years of age, having been born on the 9 day of March, 1840 in the county of Chatham, in the State of Georgia. That he is a bona fide citizen of the county of Alachua, State of Florida. That he has resided in the State of Florida continuously since the ____ day of ____, 1862. That he is the identical person who enlisted at near Fernandina, Fla. under the name of C. T. Bagley, on the ____ day of early in August 1862, in Company B, Regiment 2nd Cav. of the State of Florida in the service of the Confederate States and who was HONORABLY DISCHARGED at Waldo, in the State of Florida, on the 18th day of May, 1865, on account of termination of hoslitites [sic]. That I served faithfully until HONORABLY DISCHARGED from the service of the Confederate Army in the year 1865, and did not desert the service of the Confederate States nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States until after the surrender of the Confederate Armies. (Here state whereabouts at close of Civil War.) That I was Waldo, Florida. That I do not own property, including real estate, personal property, stocks, bonds, mortgages or other collateral securities of any kind in this or any other State, nor does my wife own with me jointly or separately, property to exceed in value the sum of five thousand dollars. This deponent further says that he has carefully examined the said applicant's physical condition and finds: (Here state nature, character and extent of wounds, disease of disability. Please avoid technical terms.) scars of muscular wounds in each leg, one arm, one hip and small of back over are of kidney, also indications of a fracture of small bone of leg. There is loss of some muscle in wound of back which I should think would greatly impair his strength. This deponent further says that the said C. T. Bagley is permanently partly disabled by reason of such injuries from earning a livelihood for himself by manual labor. J. F. Ruff, M. T. Bagley Pension No. 2856 of the State of Florida under the laws of Florida do hereby make application to the State Board of Pensions for an increase in pension allowed me at the rate of $150.00 per annum. I am unable on account of the disabilities shown below and by attached affidavit of a reputable physician, to earn a livelihood by manual labor. (Here state fully and plainly the disability from which the applicant for increase is suffering, state any loss of limbs or eyesight and give age. Please avoid the use of technical terms.) Is 73 years old and unable to gain a livelihood by manual labor caused from old age. Was shot through both legs in 6 places during the war. Suffer from said wounds a good deal. Bagley the applicant named in the foregoing application for a pension. Bagley, Trenton, Florida Dear Madam: I regret indeed to learn from your letter of the 23rd inst. of the death of your husband, Mr. Chas. T. Bagley. I am enclosing herewith regular form blank in order that application may be made for the amount of pension due him to the date of his death. I am also enclosing blank in order that you may make application for widow's pension, and in connection therewith will say that you will not be required to make further proof of your husband's war service, reference to his pension number being sufficient. D. One Thousand Nine Hundred and 19, personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace in and for the County and State aforesaid Mrs. Adelaide M. Bagley a resident of Trenton County of Alachua State of Florida, who being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in order to obtain a pension under the provisions of Chapter 7259, Laws of Florida, approved June 7, 1917. That she is the lawful widow of C. T. Bagley who enlisted under the name of Chas. T. Bagley. (State here if husband drew a pension, and when.) Has drawn a pension for ten or twelve years under no. 6360. That she was lawfully married to the said Chas. T. Bagley under the name of Miss Adeliade [sic] M. Tresper in the County of Levy State of Fla. on the 28th day of Jan., 1865, and that she was not divorced from him before nor has she remarried since his death, which occurred on the 19th day of Feb., 1919, in the county of Alachua, State of Fla., except as hereinafter stated. That she is a resident of Alachua County, Florida, and has continuously resided in the State of Florida since the 28th day of Jan. 1865.
