P. H. Dudley's Company, of Seventh Regiment from the State of Florida, and served in said Company; that while so serving and in the legitimate discharge of duty he was on the 6th day of August 1864, at East Point, Ga. wounded by a rifle bullet, while on picket duty, and that as a direct result of said wound, he is now unable to perform manual labor; that he is not a pensioner of any other State, or of the United States; that he has resided continuously the last thirty years in THE STATE OF FLORIDA, and respectfully makes this claim for the pension authorized by the Act approved February 16th, 1885, and amended June 7th, 1887. Beckham who is to me personally well known to be the man above represented and find that he has received a gun shot wound in the right side of his throat which ranged down into his right shoulder. I also find that much damage has been done to the muscle by gangrene and shrinkage which greatly impairs the use of his arm. J. Lawrence Kelley, M. D. J. Beckham, do hereby make application to the State Board of Pensions, for a pension to be granted to me under the act of 1907, Chapter 5600 of the Laws of the State of Florida, upon the following grounds: I enlisted and served in the military service of Confederate States during the war between the States of the United States, and that I did not desert the Confederate or State service; that I was a bona fide citizen of this State for ten years prior to the date of this application and have been continuously since a citizen of the State of Florida, and that I am over sixty years of age. I was wounded about middle of Aug. 1864 in neck ranging downward into shoulder and suffered about six months before the wound healed. M. J. J. Beckham was a member of said regiment; that he is acquainted with M. J. Beckham the applicant named in the foregoing petition for a pension; that he knows that the said M. J. Beckham rendered the service as soldier or sailor for the Confederate States during the war between the States as set forth in the foregoing petition for a pension. That he did not desert the Confederate army, and that the disability claimed by him to exist, does in fact exist and prevents him from earning a livelihood for himself, and these deponents being further sworn true answer to make to the following questions, deposes each for himself and answers as follows: 1. Where do you reside? James Doig resides in Gainesville, J. H. Barry, Worthington Springs 2. Are you acquainted with the within named applicant for a pension, if so, what is his name? D. One Thousand Nine Hundred and nine personally appeared before me, a notary public in and for the county and State aforesaid, Marion J. Beckham who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is 74 years of age, having been born on the 13 day of Jany., 1835, in the county of Lancaster, in the State of South Carolina. That he is a bona fide citizen of the county of Alachua, State of Florida. That he has resided in the State of Florida continuously since I was ten year old. That he is the identical person who enlisted at Gainesville, Fla., under the name of Marion J. Beckham in the spring of 1862, in Company C, Regiment 7th of the State of Florida in the service of the Confederate States and who was HONORABLY DISCHARGED at Gainesville, in the State of Florida, in May 1865, on account of the surrender of the Confederate Armies. (Here give date and place of capture, imprisonment, exchange or parole.) Was been home on wounded furlough and took the oath of allegiance in Gainesville. That I served faithfully until HONORABLY DISCHARGED from the service of the Confederate States in the year 1865, and did not desert the service of the Confederate States nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States until after the surrender of the Confederate Armies. (Here state whereabouts at close of Civil War.) That I was at home on wounded furlough. That I do not own property, including real estate, personal property, stocks, bonds, mortgages or other collateral securities of any kind in this or any other State, nor does my wife own with me jointly or separately, property to exceed in value the sum of five thousand dollars. I am unable on account of the disabilities shown below and by attached affidavit of a reputable physician, to earn a livelihood by manual labor. A severe gunshot wound through deep tissue of neck, also valvular [sic] heart lesions with enlargement also diseased condition ? of blood vessels from calcium deposit, age 76 years This deponent further says that the said M.
