Dear Madam: Your pension claim under the Act of 1909 has been considered by the Board of Pensions and was not allowed for the reasons stated below. Yours very truly, Jefferson Bell, Secretary to the Board of Pensions In re pension claim # 15485 - Date of marriage not prior to 1895 ******************************************************************************************* Micanopy, Fla. Nov. the 23 To the Board of Pensions Tallahassee, Fla. Gentleman Dear Sirs, I must say I think your new law is quite hard on old worn out widows. They can't help from being left a widow in 1885 my first husband died. Then it was 8 years before Mr. Bauknight lost his wife. So you see is was impossible for us to be married before 1885 & gentlemen Mr. Bauknight didn't call on the pension board for help. He said he had rather work as long as he could but he says to me you can get it when I am gone & I think I aught to be entitled to it just the same as before. For I am a worn out woman & one that has worked hard all my life & I have no one to help me & now unless you let me have the small amount I will have to call on the county for I can not holdout to work & I had rather get help from you in the way of the pension than to call on the county for that is very embarising [sic] to me & it all comes from the state at last. Now gentleman please & think how unjust the law is to cut out the old ladies from the small amount when the roll is getting smaller & smaller all the time. I have no brother atall [sic] to help me nothing but the public. Please think over this & see if I am not right. Trusting you will deside [sic] in my favor I am very Respt, Mrs. A. A. Bauknight
