F. C. Ainsworth The Adjutant General ******************************************************************************************* Hawthorn, Fla. June 29, 1910 Miss Jefferson Bell, Sec. B. P. Tallahassee, Fla. Dear Madam: Will you kindly inform me if there has been a new application of mine received at your office? My old blank was misplaced somewhere I had a new one written up and sent to Gainesville to be signed by the co. commissioners & C. C. One attorney tells me my pension can't be rendered under the new law. Another tells me according to the instruction he received that there was no further proof of service necessary & having been a pensioner before. My husband went out with the last call that was made during the civil war from 16 to 45 hence did not serve but six months. His captain made me that they had a much harder campaign than some that had served for three years every thing was in such a demoralized state. Does the new law require 12 months service? Wasn't anything said about it in the instructions was sent me. Will you kindly consult the comptroller and see if there is any chance to have my pension renewed what ever he says I will abide by. I had the misfortune last year to fall and get my hip dislocated which I am afraid will make me a cripple for life. Were it not for that I would not have bothered about a pension any more. Any thing you can do in my behalf will be kindly appreciated. Yours very sincerely, Mrs. Hattie A. Bailey R.F.D.
