Barry was a regularly enlisted soldier in Captain Role Thomas' Company A, of the 7th Regiment of Florida Volunteers, and served as such during the late war; that he is unable to labor and support himself by reason of wounds received in the line of duty while so serving; that he is now a citizen of this County and State; that he is not receiving a pension from any other State or from the United States, and that the pension allowed by the Act approved February 16th, 1885, "To Provide an Annuity for Disabled Soldiers and Sailors of the State of Florida," is necessary for his maintenance and support. July 22nd 1864 while in the discharge of his duties; that he is by reason of said wounds, unable to labor and support himself; that he is not a pensioner of any other State, or of the United States & that he has resided in this State 33 years next preceding this date & hereby makes claim for the pension allowed by Chapter 3698, Laws of Florida. J. Barry, Sr. who being by me duly sworn, declares he is the identical person who enlisted on or about the ____ day of March 1862 in Captain Thomas' Company, county of Alachua, in the State of Florida and that while in actual service in said company "A" Seventh (7) Regiment of the State of Florida and in line of duty as such soldier, at or near Atlanta, State of Georgia on or about the 22 day of July, 1864, I was wounded and was honorably discharged at the expiration of his service on the ____ day of ____ in ____ county, State ____, he was discharged by reason of the surrender being wounded as above stated in the left shoulder and paralyzing my left arm and at home in Alachua County, Florida at the surrender on furlough and being wounded as stated and my age I am unable to earn a living by manual labor and that as the direct result of said injuries, thus received in line of duty during the war, he is now unable to gain a livelihood by manual labor; that he has continuously since January 1st, 1885 been a citizen of Florida; that neither he, nor his wife, nor both combined, own real and personal property to the value of $800 in this or any other State, and have not purposely disposed of any property for the purpose of availing themselves of the provisions of the pension laws of Florida; that he is not otherwise enabled or in a position to earn, and has no income from any source sufficient for a livelihood by manual labor, and that he never deserted the Confederate service, and that he receives no pension from any other source. Wienges I do solemnly swear that I was born on the 16th day of November 1830 in Screven county, State of Georgia and that I am now past the age of sixty-five (65) years; that I was a bona-fide citizen of this State on January A. D. 1885, and have continuously resided in this State since that date; that I do not own property, real or personal, or real and personal, to the value of eight hundred dollars ($800), and that I am by reason of age incapable of providing a living by manual labor for myself. Barry, Sr. the above applicant for pension during the Civil War of 1861 to 1865, that we served with him in "A" Company 7th Florida Regiment, and knew of our own knowledge that he did receive the injuries set forth in the above application at the time and place claimed, and that the disability therefrom claimed to exist, does exist, and that he never deserted the Confederate Army. Barry, Sr., who is personally known to us to be the person above applying for a pension under the laws of Florida, and find that he was severely wounded in the left side of neck the ball coming out near right shoulder, the ball in its course injuring nerves to such an extent that he is paralysed [sic] in the entire left arm from the affections above stated he is positively incapacitated to earn a living by manual labor.
