F. Barron who being by me duly sworn, declares he is the identical person who enlisted on or about the eleventh day of April, 1861, in Captain John M. White's Company, county of York, in the State of South Carolina, and that while in actual service in said company Sixth Regiment, of the State of So. Ca. on or about the 2nd day of June, 1864, and was honorably discharged at the expiration of my service on the ____ day of ____ in Mecklenburg county, North Carolina. I had my ankle broken at South Mountain, Maryland in the Fall of 1862. Foot torn up by shell on west side of Look Out Mountain, Ga. in Fall of 1863. Left arm broken and torn up on the 2nd June 1864 at Second Cold Harbor in Va. and that as the direct result of said injuries, thus received in line of duty during the war, I am now unable to gain a livelihood by manual labor; that I have continuously since January 1st, 1885 been a citizen of Florida that neither I nor my wife, nor both combined, own real and personal property to the value of $800 in this or any other State, and have not purposely disposed of our property for the purpose of availing ourselves of the provisions of the pension laws of Florida; that I am not otherwise enabled, or in a position to earn, and have no income from any source sufficient for a livelihood by manual labor, and that I ever deserted the Confederate service, and that I receive a pension from no other source. Sistrunk Clerk Circuit Court Marion County I do solemnly swear that I was born on the 22nd day of December 1842 in York county, State of North Carolina, and that I am now past the age of sixty-five (65) years; that I was bona-fide citizen of this State on January, A. D. 1885, and have continuously resided in this State since that date; that I do not own property, real or person, or real and personal, to the value of eight hundred dollars ($800), and that I am by reason of age incapable of providing a living by manual labor for myself. Barron and his wife, directly or indirectly, in this or any other State, and that the actual combined value thereof does not exceed $800; that they have not disposed of any property for the purpose of availing themselves of the provisions of the pension laws of Florida, and that he is not physically or otherwise able, or in a position to earn a livelihood, by manual labor. Frank Barron, who is personally known to us to be the person above applying for a pension under the laws of Florida, and find that left ankle was broken by shell foot was so badly lacerated as to necessitate amputation 2nd toe. He was also wounded in forearm 5 inches of ulna was taken out. Radius also broken by same shot. We find him unable from wounds to make a living by manual labor. Henry C. ?, M. D. D. One Thousand Nine Hundred and 9 personally appeared before me, a notary public in and for the county and State aforesaid, James F. Barron who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is 66 years of age, having been born on the 23 day of December, 1842, in the county of York, in the State of South Carolina. That he is a bona fide citizen of the county of Alachua, State of Florida. That he has resided in the State of Florida continuously since the 10 day of July, 1883. That he is the identical person who enlisted at Summerville, S. C., under the name of J. F. Barron, on the 22 day of June 1861, in Company B, Regiment 6th Infantry of the State of So. Carolina in the service of the Confederate States Army and who was HONORABLY DISCHARGED at ____, in the State of ____, on the ____ day of ____, 186_, on account of ____. (Here state fully any other military service performed by the applicant.) Was dangerously wounded Sept. 12, 1862 and captured at Frederick, Md., was dangerously wounded at Look Out Mountain, Ga. Fall of 63 and seriously wounded June 2nd 1864. (Here give date and place of capture, imprisonment, exchange or parole.) Was captured in hospital at Frederick, Md. Sept. 12 '62, was exchanged March 20th 1863. That I served faithfully until HONORABLY DISCHARGED from the service of the Confederate States Army in the year 186_, and did not desert the service of the Confederate States Army nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States until after the surrender of the Confederate Armies. (Here state whereabouts at close of Civil War.) That I was at home York Co., S. C. wounded. Wound did not heal for over one year after surrender. That I do not own property, including real estate, personal property, stocks, bonds, mortgages or other collateral securities of any kind in this or any other State, nor does my wife own with me jointly or separately, property to exceed in value the sum of five thousand dollars. That the following is a true and correct statement of all the property owned by me or by my wife, jointly and separately in this or any other State: Real estate, located at: none Cattle, horses and other live stock: none Personal property: none Stocks: none Bonds: none Mortgages, notes and other securities: none That I have heretofore been granted a pension from the State of Florida under pension certificate No. 1422, at the rate of $70 per annum. (Here state any wounds received, or loss of limbs and eyesight.) Left leg broken part of bone taken out Sept. 12 '62. Left foot shot part taken off Fall of 63 at Look Out Mountain, Ga. Barron for a pension under the Laws of Florida, was investigated by us; that we are satisfied that the applicant does not own property (including the property of his wife) to exceed the value of $5,000, and that the representations made in the petition and affidavits are true, and that a pension should be granted to the applicant. D., who being duly sworn, deposes and says, that he is a physician; that he is a resident of the State and County aforesaid; that he personally knows James F. Barron the applicant named in the foregoing application for a pension. This deponent further says that he has carefully examined the said applicant's physical condition and finds: (Here state nature, character and extent of wounds, disease or disability. Please avoid technical terms.) Gun shot wound on left forearm requiring resection of six inches of bone, left leg wounded and part of the bone removed and also wound of left foot requiring amputation of a part of foot & these limbs are left so weak. This deponent further says that the said applicant on this account is permanently ____ disabled by reason of such above wounds from earning a livelihood for himself by manual labor. Geo. S. Means, M. Frank Clark, House of Representatives Sir: In returning herewith the letter, received by your reference today, of Mr. James F. Barron of Evinston, Florida, who asks you to obtain for him his military record as a member of Company B, 6th South Carolina Regiment, Confederate States Army, and in compliance with your request that the desired information be furnished to you, I have the honor to inform you as follows: The records of this office show that J. F. Barron (name not found as James F. Barron), private and sergeant, Company B, 6th South Carolina Infantry, Confederate States Army, was enlisted June 22, 1861, in York District, South Carolina, that he was captured September 12, 62, at Frederick, and that he was sent from Fort Delaware, Delaware, to Aiken's Landing, Virginia, October 2, 1862 (handwritten - Dec. 2nd), where he was declared exchanged November 10, 1862 (handwritten - Dec. 10, 62). On the company muster roll for January and February, 1865, last on file, he is reported as follows: "Absent without leave since February 10, 1865. Severely wounded June 2, 1864."
