D. One Thousand Nine Hundred and twenty nine, personally appeared before me a notary public in and for the County and State aforesaid Frances Margaret Youngblood a resident of Alachua County of Alachua State of Florida, who being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in order to obtain a pension under the provisions of the General Pension Laws of Florida. That she is the lawful widow of John G. Youngblood who enlisted under the name of John G. Youngblood on the ____ day of March, 1861, in Company C 55th Regiment of the State of Georgia and who was honorably discharged at Macon, Georgia, 1865, on account of end of the war. That she was lawfully married to the said John G. Youngblood under the name of Margaret Frances Hooks in the County of Dooly State of Georgia on the 29 day of Nov. 1860, and that she was not divorced from him before nor has she remarried since his death, which occurred on the 15 day of April, 1913, in the County of Dooly, State of Georgia except as hereinafter stated. That she is a resident of Alachua County, Florida, and has continuously resided in the State of Florida since the ____ day of June 1913. That she was heretofore granted a pension from the State of Florida under Certificate No. ____. That she is not a pensioner of any other State. The name John G. Youngblood has not been found on the muster rolls of Co. C, 55th Georgia Infantry, C.S.A., which rolls cover in part the period from Sept. 1, 1862 to Oct. 31, 1864, nor has any record been found of his service, capture or parole as of the 55th Georgia Inf., C.S.A. The records show that one John G. Youngblood, who enlisted at Red Land, Miss., served in Co. A, 31st Miss. Inf., C.S.A. C. H. Bridges Major General, The Adjutant General ******************************************************************************************* State of Florida} Alachua County} Before me personally appeared Mrs. Frances Youngblood, who being duly sworn, says she is a resident of Alachua County, Florida, and has been a resident of Alachua County, Florida since 1913, the time of the death of her husband John Gilbert Youngblood; that she was married to the said John Gilbert Youngblood, 29th of Nov. 1860, and she never was divorced from him and lived with him as his wife until his death in 1913. That her husband, the said John Gilbert Youngblood enlisted in the Confederate Army, in Co. C 55th Georgia Regiment, and fought with said Company the balance of the war until the surrender, and he never at any time deserted the army. That she does not know of any one who was in said Company C with her husband that is now alive; that Mr. John Carroll, recently of High Springs, Alachua County, Florida, who was a member of said company with her husband recently died, and she knows of no one she could prove said fact. Evans Haile Notary Public State at Large ******************************************************************************************* State of Florida} Alachua County} Before me personally appeared Evans Haile, who being duly sworn, that he is well acquainted with Mrs. Frances Youngblood, who has made application for a pension as the widow of a Confederate Soldier; that said pension has been granted by the Legislature of Florida in the year 1929, and approved by the Governor; that Mrs. Frances Youngblood has been a resident of Florida ever since the death of her husband in 1913. That affiant was well acquainted with Mr. John Carroll, of High Springs, Alachua County, Florida, who was a Confederate Soldier, and who recently died at High Springs, Florida; that in a conversation with the said John Carroll just a short time before his death, the said Carroll stated to affiant that he served in the same Company during the Confederate war with the identical John Gilbert Youngblood, whose widow is Mrs. Frances Youngblood, applicant for said pension; that said John Carroll stated that he and the said John Gilbert Youngblood served until the close of the war in Co. C 55th Georgia Regiment, and that the said John Gilbert Youngblood never deserted the army, or the Confederate Cause. Evans Haile Sworn and subscribed to before me this August 2nd A. D. 1929. C. G. Hooks, who being by me first duly sworn, says he resides in the City of Valdosta, in the State of Georgia; that he was well acquainted with John Gilbert Youngblood; that he is well acquainted with the wife of said John Gilbert Youngblood, Mrs. Frances Youngblood, who is the identical persons applying in the State of Florida of Florida for a pension as the widow of a Confederate Soldier; that he was present at the marriage of the said John Gilbert Youngblood and the said Frances Youngblood, she being at the time Frances Hooks, the sister of affiant; that said marriage took place in the state of Georgia on the 29th day of Nov. 1860, that affiant was present at said marriage and saw the said wedding take place; That the said John Gilbert Youngblood joined Co. C 55th Georgia Regiment, and fought with said Company in the Confederate Army, and he and his wife Frances Youngblood were never divorced and said Frances Youngblood has been a resident of Florida ever since 1913. You will recall my visit to your office when I was in the legislature concerning this matter. In my mind I am confident this woman is entitled to a pension. However I have not been able to get just such proof as I would like to be able to submit to you, Senator Dell from this county will write you personally in her behalf. Dear Sir: I am in receipt of your letter of the 10th, instant, enclosing affidavits in re: pension for Mrs. F. M. Youngblood and I wish to advise that they have been filed with her Special Act for pension, for reconsideration of the Pension Board. With further reference to Mr. Youngblood's service, I wish to advise that there was a John G. Youngblood, who enlisted at Red Land, Miss., in Co., A, 31st Miss. Inf. C.S.A., and I am wondering if by any chance the Mr. Youngblood to whom you refer ever served in Miss., or if he could have enlisted in that State. If so, I shall be very glad to try and obtain complete Official Transcript of his service in that Company. Youngblood. WHEREAS, John G. Youngblood claims to have enlisted in March, 1861, in Company C, 55th Georgia Regiment, Confederate States Army, and to have served until the close of the war when he was discharged at Macon, Georgia, in 1865, and WHEREAS, Mrs. Youngblood is eighty-four years of age and is a worthy Confederate widow and in need of the pension; Therefore, BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF FLORDIA: SECTION 1. That the State Board of Pensions be and they are hereby authorized and directed to place the name of Mrs. Frances Margaret Youngblood on the Pension Roll of the State of Florida, to be paid a pension at the same rate and in the same manner as other pensioners of the State are paid. SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
