D. One Thousand Nine Hundred and seventeen personally appeared before me, a notary public in and for the county and State aforesaid, W. W. Conner, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is 72 years of age, having been born on the 30 day of November 1845, in the County of Charlton, in the State of Georgia. That he is a bona fide citizen of the county of Baker, State of Florida. That he has resided in the State of Florida continuously since the about 62 years. That he is the identical person who enlisted at Lake City, Fla., under the name of W. W. Conner, on the ____ day of May or June 1864, in Company G, Regiment 1st Fla. Reserve of the State of Florida in the service of the infantry Confederate States Army and who was HONORABLY DISCHARGED at Madison, Fla., in the State of Florida, Spring, 1865, on account of war was over. That I served faithfully until HONORABLY DISCHARGED from the service of the Confederate States in the year 1865, and did not desert the service of the Confederate States nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States until after the surrender of the Confederate Armies except as explained in affidavit herewith. That I was at Madison, Fla. That I do not own property, including real restate, personal property, stocks, bonds, mortgages or other collateral securities of any kind in this or any other State, nor does my wife own with me jointly or separately, property exceed in value the sum of five thousand dollars, exclusive of my or our home and one acre of land upon which said home stands. That the following is a true and correct statement of all the property owned by me or by my wife, jointly and separately in this or any other State: Cattle, horses and other live stock . . . horse & wagon . . . . . . . $150.00 That I have heretofore applied for a pension from the State of Florida and refer to Claim No. ____ for the proof contained therein. W. Conner for a pension under the Laws of Florida, was investigated by us; that we are satisfied that the applicant does not own property (including the property of his wife) to exceed the value of $5,000, exclusive of his home and one acre of land upon which said home stands; that he has been a bona fide citizen of the State of Florida for a least 8 years just preceding the date of this application, and that the representation made in the petition and affidavits are true and that a pension should be granted to the applicant. Conner, who, being by me sworn says: Regarding the oath of Allegance [sic] taken by me: I inlisted [sic] in the Confederate States Army in 1863 and served therein until February, 1864, when at Baldwin, Florida, I was captured by the enemy. I was promised my freedom, and also given to understand and I believe that my country and my home had been given over to the enemy, and hence I took the oath of allegance. [sic] I return and found that in May or June, 1864 that the war was not over, and I went immediately to Lake City, Florida, and there re-inlisted [sic] in the Confederate States Army, and served therein continuously until the close of the war, and was, at Madison, Florida, in 1865 honorably discharged because of the closing of the war.
