All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ****************************************************************************************** The Weekly Constitution, Atlanta, Ga., Monday, March 30, 1903 Woe Follows Wedding Joy Cocoa, Fla., March 25 - In celebration of a wedding here a serenading party fired an old cannon. At the second discharge the cannon exploded among the bystanders, parts of it striking houses a block off. Seven persons were injured, two seriously. The more seriously injured are: Mrs. R. B. Holmes, leg broken, had to be amputated below the knee. Arthur Lapham, leg fractured. Others Injured are: W. G. Paterson, Mrs. W. G. Paterson, George White, Will Ransom and a drummer whose name was not learned. The cannon was from a British steamer wrecked on the coast off Sebastian, and presented to the town of Cocoa ten years ago. It was condemned and thrown into the river six months ago, but was gotten out and made use of on this occasion.
