Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale Husband: Osceola Kyle Enlistment: 23rd day of February, 1861 in Company E, 1st Battalion Alabama Artillery Discharge: At Salisbury, North Carolina 1865 Note: Osceola Kyle did not draw a pension from any other state Marriage: Osceola Kyle and Eliza J. Cabot, Elmore County, Alabama on the 18th of June 1876 Veterans Death: 13th March 1888 in Elmore County, Alabama Re-Marriage: She was married to Fred M. Cabot on the 6th day of January 1889. Said Fred M. Cabot died on the 11th day of December 1896. She has been a resident of Broward County Florida since the 26th Jan. 1892 Claim for Pension By: Eliza J. Cabot 619 N.E. Broward Blvd. Ft. Filed: June 6, 1930 Approved: Aug. 8, 1930 With pay from June 6, 1930 At the rate of $480.00 per annum Signed: Roumelle Bowen, Secretary of Board ***************************** LETTER State of Florida County of Broward Dated 29th May 1930 Affidavit of John H. Grant who states: That he was well acquainted with Fred M. Cabot at the time of the latters death and for some years prior thereto. That he know Fred M. Cabot to be the husband of Eliza J. Cabot and knew them both when they lived together as husband and wife in Jupiter Florida. Further, he knows that said Fred M. Cabot met his death at Jupiter Florida on the 11th day of December 1896 and that said death was caused by a railroad train running over him. ***************************** LETTER Dec. 23rd, 1935 Mrs. Lucy R. Kyle Ft. Lauderdale Florida Dear Mrs. Kyle: Replying to your request of even date, I wish to advise that the records in this office show that Mrs. Eliza J. Cabot, Confederate pensioner #10137, was granted a pension by the State Board of Pensions on August 8th, 1930, with pay from June 6th, 1930, the date of the filing of her application for pension in the Comptroller's office. The records further show that her husband, Osceola Kyle, Lt. and Adjutant, Gee's Battalion, Ala. Art., entered the State service Feb. 23, 1861. This Co. subsequently became Co. E, 1st Bat. Ala. Art. On May 24, 1861, he entered the Confederate service as 2nd Lt. Co. E, 1st Bat. Ala. Art. CSA and resigned July 15, 1861. On July 19, 1861, he was elected Capt. of Co. C, 13th Regt. Ala. Inf. CSA. He was appointed Lt. Colonel of the 45th Regt. Ala. Inf. CSA, May 20, 1862. Union Prisoner of War records show that he was captured at Champion Hill, May 16, 1863, and paroled at Johnson's Island, Ohio, being forwarded to Point Lookout, Md., for exchange Feb. 20, 1865. His name appears on a Roll of Officers and Men paroled in accordance with the terms of a Military Convention entered into on the 26th of April, 1865, which shows him paroled at Salisbury, N.C., May 2, 1865, at Lt. Colonel of the 23rd Ala. Regt. C.S.A. This information was taken from an Official Transcript from the War Department, Washington, D.C. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Dear Madam: In reply to your letter of the 22nd instant, beg to advise that F. M. Cabot and Mrs. E. J. Kyle were married on the 5th day of January, 1889, by James L. Coleman, Minister of the Gospel. The license was issued on the 5th day of January, 1889. My Dear Mrs. Grant: Your fathers Masonic history as shown by our records, are as follows, viz. He was Initiated on October the 7th 1865, Passed to Degree of Fellow Craft, on July the 18th 1866, and raised to Sublime Degree of Master Mason on August the 4th, 1866. He served the lodge as Junior Warden for the year 1869, and died on March 13th, 1888.
