	CRANFORD, M.D., JAMES FRANK, physician and surgeon of ripe powers and 
experience, began his professional career in his native state of North 
Carolina, but since 1915 has been engaged in practice at Inverness, Florida, 
except for the period he spent in the service as an army medical officer.
	Doctor CRANFORD was born at Davidson, Mecklenburg County, North 
Carolina, September 27, 1884, son of WILLIAM and SARAH E. (CALDWELL) 
CRANFORD.  His parents were born in Catawba County, North Carolina, and now 
live at Davidson.  His father has been a merchant, is a former postmaster of 
Davidson and an elder in the Presbyterian Church.  In the family were ten 
children, six sons and four daughters.
	Doctor CRANFORD acquired a public school education, attended Davidson 
College two years, where he played on the baseball and football teams, and 
from there entered the medical department of the University of North Carolina, 
graduating M. D. in 1909.  The following year he did special work in the 
Charlotte Sanitarium, and in 1910 took up practice at Hendersonville, North 
Carolina.  Wile there he was active in public affairs, being president of the 
County Medical Society and both city and county health officer.  On removing 
to Inverness, Florida, in 1915, Doctor CRANFORD resumed general practice, and 
is surgeon for the Atlantic Coast Line and Seaboard Air Line Railroad and a 
member of the Railway Surgeons’ associations of these two systems.  He has 
taken several special courses in medicine and surgery at New York, and is 
president of the Inverness Drug Company, conducting one of the best drug 
stores in Citrus County.
	Doctor CRANFORD was commissioned a first lieutenant in the Army 
Medical Corps in 1918, and was sent to Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, where he was 
promoted to captain, and continued in service at the base hospital until 
honorably discharged in January, 1919.  Doctor CRANFORD served as mayor of 
Inverness in 1921-22.  He is a member of the State and American Medical 
associations, a Presbyterian, a Royal Arch Mason, Knight of Pythias and a 
member of the American Legion.
	In 1912, at Columbia, South Carolina, he married Miss QUENNIE MOBLEY, 
daughter of M. H. and EMMA (McCRORY) MOBLEY, the latter living, while her 
father died in August, 1921, while filling the office of county treasurer.  
Doctor and Mrs. CRANFORD have two children, KATHERINE M. and SARAH ELIZABETH.
