Widow's Pension Claim

On this 5th day of February, A. D. One Thousand Nine Hundred and thirty-one, 
personally appeared before me a Clerk Circuit Court in and for the County and State 
aforesaid Mrs. Maggie Barber a resident of ____ County of Dixie State of Florida, 
who being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in order to 
obtain a pension under the provisions of the General Pension Laws of Florida.

That she is the lawful widow of W. J. Barber who enlisted under the name of ____.  
For proof of husband's war service, refer to Pension No. 8241.

That she was lawfully married to the said William J. Barber under the name of 
Maggie Kight in the County of Suwannee State of Florida on the 8 day of May 1895, 
and she was not divorced from him before nor has she remarried since his death, 
which occurred on the 11th day of January, 1931, in the County of Dixie, State of 
Florida except as hereinafter stated.

That she is a resident of Dixie County, Florida, and has continuously resided in 
the State of Florida since the 22nd day of February 1873 (all my life).

That she was heretofore granted a pension from the State of Florida under 
Certificate No. ____.  That she is not a pensioner of any other State.

That her Postoffice address is Fletcher, County of Dixie, State of Florida.

of May, A. D. 1895, and that the ceremony was performed by A. K. Evans, Ordained 
Minister.

We, the undersigned, County Commissioners in and for the County of Dixie, Florida, 
do hereby report that at a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners held this 
day, the foregoing application of Maggie Barber for a pension under the Laws of 
Florida, was investigated by us; that we are satisfied that the applicant has been 
a bona fide citizen of the State of Florida for eight years just preceding the date 
of this application, and that the representations made in the petition and affidavits 
are true, and that a pension should be granted the applicant.

4.  Did soldier serve under assumed name
5.  Was soldier a prisoner.

I need the above information for use in getting a tombstone for my deceased husband;
the federal government requires the questions answered and I do not have this 
information.
