Finlayson Old Town, Florida Dear Madam: I am very glad indeed to advise you that the Special Law granting you a pension has been considered and allowed by the Pension Board and I am enclosing herewith Warrant for the amount of pension due you to September 1st. On the first day of each month thereafter you will receive Warrant for $40.00 in payment of pension for the preceding month. I am enclosing herewith certificate of the Secretary of the Pension Board, which should be preserved as it is your evidence that you have been granted a pension. With sincere good wishes, I am Comptroller RB:mer encl. AN ACT GRANTING A PENSION TO MRS. GEORGE C. JONES, A CITIZEN OF DIXIE COUNTY, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, Mrs. George C. Jones, aged seventy-nine years, is a citizen and resident of Dixie County, Florida, and is the widow of George C. Jones, deceased, late of said Dixie County, Florida; and WHEREAS, the said George C. Jones, in ____ A. D. 1864, enlisted as a Home Guard under Captain Henry Rucker, in the War between the States, and was honorably discharged at the close of said war; and, WHEREAS, the said George C. Jones, as a member of the Home Guard in the State of Florida in the War between the States, would have been entitled to have been enrolled as a Confederate Pensioner upon his application therefore during his life time; but, WHEREAS, the said George C. Jones never made application for enrollment as a Confederate Pensioner: THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That the State Board of Pensions of Florida be and it is hereby directed to place the name of Mrs. George C. Jones, a citizen and resident of Dixie County, Florida, upon the Pension Roll of the State of Florida to be paid in the same manner and at the same rate and from the General Pension Fund as other pensioners of the State of Florida are paid. SECTION 2. All laws or parts of laws in conflict with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed. SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect immediately upon becoming a law.
