Won’t you see if it is not there or if so, could not that with certificate of his two comrades be sufficient. I feel we all do here that he is a worthy man bears all the evidences of faithful service. Wishing you a Happy New Year. Very Cordially yours, Robt. J. Magill ********************************************************************** (Letter) 16800 Jacksonville, Fla. Jan. 12th, 1910 Dear Miss Bell, I sent you my war record which I received from the War Department at Washington, D.C. and I am surprised you say you have not received it. It is surely filed in that office at Tallahassee. I first mailed you the affidavit of my two comrade’s and later my record from Washington. I enlisted in Cobb’s First Kentucky Battery 3rd Ky. Ridg. Breckenridge Div. at Bowling Green, Ky. Sept., 1861. After the Battle of Atlanta per Lyons command in eluding Cobbs first Ky. Battry of which I was a member was transferred to Gen. Forrist Command artilryman and had no letters. I enlisted as Harrison Adams but my full name is William Harrison Adams. Yours truly, William Harrison Adams 1105 West Forsyth St. Jax Fla. ************************************************************************ (Letter) Pension File—A February 8, 1910 Mr. Wm. H.Harrison, 1105 West Forsyth, Jacksonville, Fla. Dear Sir: Replying to your letter of the 18th: I find upon further examination of my files the record sent by you and I presume the difficulty we had in obtaining the record is that the name was borne upon the rolle of the company as Harrison Adams and the request Mr. Groom made was for the record of Wm. H. Adams. The service in the Artillery is established but there is nothing to establish the service after your transfer to Forrests Cavalry. It will be necessary for that to be shown. I have made another request for the record and will bring this matter again to the attention of the Board of Pensions. Yours very truly, Secretary ********************************************************************** (Letter) Pension File—A January 8, 1910 Honorable Robert J. Magill, Jacksonville, Fla. My dear Sir:- I have your second letter with regard to W. H. Adams, whose pension claim No. 16800 has been held for further investigation. I have made two requests of the War Department for record but so far no record can be obtained of him in the organization in which he claims to have served. His first claim was allowed upon the certificate of the Adjutant of your camp and is not sufficient under the present law. he has filed the affidavit of two men who swear that they served with him. The proof however in view of the fact that no record can be obtained of his service although it is claimed covered a period of four years has made the Board of Pensions hold his claim up until further investigation can be made. Will you kindly have him give the date and place of his enlistment and transfer and state the letter of his company and number of his regiment and we will make another effort to get some further evidence from the War Department. With best wishes for the New Year, I am, Yours cordially, Secty. ****************************************************************** (Letter) 16800 Jacksonville, Fla. Oct. 3d, 1909.
