They are correct. The records at the War Department shows that Charlie was not with the Company at the close of the war. However, as he was honorably discharged, it will not keep you from getting pension. The statement that he served until close of war was all honest mistake no doubt. Let us know results. Taylor, of Memphis, Tennessee (referring to Claim 18073 filed with the Department of Pensions for the State of Florida at Tallahassee, Florida by Mrs. Laura E. L. Harper, claimant and widow of Charles Malon Harper, deceased). I belonged to the same Command, but not to Company B, 7th Tennessee Cavalry, to which Charles M. Harper belonged. I lived within three miles of C. M. Harper; was intimately acquainted with him and his family, both before and after, as well as during the war. C. M. Harper did not serve until the war closed; he was honorably discharged in the latter part of 1862 on account of his bad health and did not fully regain his health for several years after the close of the war. I am informed that it is stated in the ___________(?) papers filed in this case that C. M. Harper did active service until close of the war. I am positive that such statement was all erroneous and honest mistake no doubt. Thos. J.
