Company F, 1st Florida Infantry Regiment, United States Volunteers, 1898-1899
COMPANY F
1ST FLORIDA VOLUNTEER INFANTRY REGIMENT
This Company was organized at Jacksonville, Florida; left there at 9 oˇ¦clock p.m.
on May 12th, 1898, traveling thence by rail to Tampa, Florida, a distance of about
212 miles; reached destination at 7 oˇ¦clock a.m. on May 13th; went into camp at
Fort Brooke, at which place it was mustered into the service of the United States on
May 23rd by Captain Woodruff, mustering officer. Broke camp on May 27th and marched
to Palmetto Beach, a distance of two miles, where it went into camp; broke camp at
Palmetto Beach at 3 oˇ¦clock p.m. on July 21st, and traveled thence by rail to
Fernandina, a distance of 240 miles, arriving at there destination at 7:30 a.m. on
July 22nd; broke camp at Fernandina on the afternoon of August 22nd and camped in
the streets that night; took cars for Huntsville, Alabama, at noon on August 23rd;
arrived at destination, a distance of about 560 miles, at 2 p.m. on August 25th,
going into temporary camp on the evening of the same date and marching to permanent
camp on the morning of August 26th, a distance of one mile; Mustered out of service
at Huntsville, Alabama, on January 24th, 1899.
