He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was retired from Hendrix Tractor Company in Atmore. He was an ordained Baptist minister and avid fisherman. Survvors include his wife, two daughters, one son-in-law, one brother and sister-in-law. one sister and brother-in-law, two step daughters, one step son, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Maggie Stanton; infant son Earl Ray Stanton; and great-grandaughter; Sandra LeShae Harmon. Services were held Sunday, at Jay Funeral Home. Burial followed at Canoe United Methodist Cemetery in Canoe. Jay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
